Oman or the Sultanate Of Oman is to be found on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Oman's nearest neighbors are the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. There was a very brief Persian intrusion but it was soon controlled. Since then, Oman has been an independent nation. However, there has been a strong British on this country.



Oman has a flourishing economy that mainly relies on its oil, that is petroleum, reserves. Its location is extremely favorable to trade and commerce. The country has good relations with nations like the United Kingdom, and the United States Of America.

Oman is an Islamic country. However, there is a special sect of Muslims in Oman, they practice Ibadhism. Ibadhism may be defined as a merger of tolerance,and austerity.

Most of the central part of Oman is covered by a desert plain. There are mountain ranges along the north, and the south east coast. The coastal areas are humid.

The diet of this region is heavily made up of mutton, fish, and chicken. Fruits and nuts also make up an important portion. In brief, men and women wear long flowing garments. Women use the hijab (or veil.) The favorite sport of Oman is football.
